"I just wanted to let you know what a great experience having my children in Big Brothers Big Sisters has been.  I am a single parent of three children and have been for quite a while.  Everyone knows that sometimes it takes a village to raise a child.  Many of us don't have that village in our life.  We all want to be that perfect parent and do all we can to make sure we raise our children in such a way that they grow up to be successful adults. 

No matter how many activities we introduce and involve our children in, there are many other things parents may not know about that could be beneficial to our kids.   I am blessed that I have a Big Brother for my son and a Big Sister for my daughter.  I waited a little too late to sign my sixteen year old up.  One thing I would advise is not to wait too late to sign your children up.  After a certain age, some children may not feel they need a BB or BS and that would be such a loss.  If you have any hesitation about your children participating in the program, the staff is there willing and waiting to address your concerns. 

Both of my children's BB and BS are recent college graduates.  Most of us want our children to go onto college. Actually seeing what it takes and how achievable that dream is makes it easier for your children to visualize themselves in that position later in life. 

There are many BB and BS that have their own businesses or are hard working and creative people.  I was amazed of all the good things that my children have experienced since they have been in the program. 

Children tug at you from all different directions.  Sometimes you may feel guilty about not being able to do every single thing your children want you to do at a drop of a hat.  We all want to honor all our children's requests but sometimes we don't have enough time in a day and we have to say no.  This has given my children something else to look forward to each week.  The BB and BS who work with the children are very dedicated individuals and give their time freely.  Sometimes all a child needs is a little extra one-on-one attention that this provides for them.  I highly recommend the program and I am very happy that its out there. "
