Enroll Your Child
The enrollment process is very simple. To be eligible, a child must be between the ages of eight and 14, not have regular contact with his or her absent parent, and, above all else, want to participate in the program. To be admitted into the program, a child must:
- Attend an orientation at BBBS with a parent or guardian
- Allow BBBS to collect a brief school report from a teacher or counselor
- Arrange Both child and parent to participate in an in-home interview with a Case Manager
“Bigs” are adult volunteers who are at least 19 years old, have a driver’s license, can provide reliable transportation, and have a desire to be a friend to a child. Volunteers in our program can be a Big Brother, Big Sister, or, if a married couple would like to volunteer together, a Big Couple. A "Big" is a friend and a mentor, offering friendship and support to a Little Brother or Little Sister through a one-to-one relationship. Bigs and Littles spend two to four hours a week together for a minimum of one year.
To enroll your child, please call Brandy at 660-562-7981 or e-mail bbbsnodaway@bbbskc.org.
